We seek to be fully submitted to the commands and wisdom of Christ. We want our church to be ordered the way God intended for churches to be ordered.
We believe the elders of the local church are called to humbly lead the church and are responsible to help God’s people spiritually flourish.

Meet Our Lead Church Planters
Kenny and Malaina Ortiz, along with their two young kids, moved from Minnesota to Florida in June 2023 with the intention of launching Horizon City Church.
Kenny is originally from Philly. Before coming to Florida, he was a pastor at Cities Church in St. Paul and a professor at Bethlehem College & Seminary in Minneapolis. He’s also a blogger and podcaster at Theology for the Rest of Us.
Malaina is originally from Houston. She was previously a missionary to France and then worked as a college recruiter for several years for two different schools in Minneapolis.
Advisory Team
Advisory Team
We believe churches should be led by a plurality of biblically qualified male elders/pastors, with the Lead Pastor serving as the “first among equals.”
However, since Horizon City Church is a new congregation, we have not yet had the opportunity to establish additional elders. Until a plurality of elders can be established, this Advisory Team will offer counsel and accountability.
