Building a Strong Launch Team and Connecting with the Orlando Community

 In Articles, Leadership Updates

We’ve got lots of great stuff happening with Horizon City. I’m excited to share the latest developments and progress in our church planting journey. You can either watch the video (and get significant details) or read the recap herein this blog.

Building a United Launch Team

One of our primary focuses has been on building a strong and united Launch Team, also known as a core group, that will covenant together to form the foundation of this new local church family. We’ve got 28 adults who have committed to being part of this Launch Team. It’s been truly incredible to witness genuine friendships and a sense of community already blossoming among the team members.

They are not only attending organized events but also organically spending time together and deepening their relationships. My earnest prayer is that this group will continue to grow into a loving spiritual family that will go on mission together to reach our city with the love and message of Jesus Christ.

Connecting with the Community

In addition to building the Launch Team, I’ve been actively focused on connecting with people in the community. Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of engaging in 160+ one-on-one conversations with individuals that I’ve met while spending time at local coffee shops and breweries, such as Home State Brewing in Hamlin, Foxtail in downtown Winter Garden, and the Starbucks locations in Hamlin and Flamingo Crossings. These encounters have been incredibly enriching, allowing me to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and various stages of their spiritual journey.

Reaching New Residents through Social Media

To further extend our reach and connect with even more people, especially those who are new to the Orlando area, we’ve been running targeted Facebook and Instagram ads over the past couple of weeks. The response has been truly remarkable – the ads have been viewed by nearly 5,000 people, and 43 individuals have personally reached out, expressing their desire to meet up with me and learn more about Horizon City Church.

I’ve already had meaningful conversations with several of them and have more meetings scheduled in the coming days. I kindly ask for your prayers, that God would work through these interactions to draw people closer to Himself and to our growing church community.

Upcoming Milestones and Launch Plans

Looking ahead, the launch team will continue to gather regularly throughout August and September to strengthen our relationships, cultivate our church culture, and set the trajectory for our future together. We plan to officially covenant together in early September, marking the formal establishment of Horizon City Church. Then, on October 6th, we will hold our highly anticipated public launch service at Sunridge Middle School, a wonderful facility that provides ample space for our gatherings and future growth.

Financial Update and Gratitude

Lastly, I want to provide a financial update and express my heartfelt gratitude to all who have generously given and pledged to support the vision of Horizon City Church. To date, we have received over $47,000 in donations and $112,000 in pledges, bringing us to 38% of our goal of raising $420,000 by January 2025. Your investments in this kingdom work are greatly appreciated and are vital to the establishment and growth of our church. If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to partner with us financially, I would like to extend a warm invitation for you to prayerfully consider doing so.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your faithful prayers, unwavering encouragement, and generous support. I eagerly anticipate seeing how God will continue to work in and through Horizon City Church to make disciples, impact our community, and bring glory to Jesus. Together, let us press forward in unity and love, trusting in God’s perfect plan for our church family.
