Churches Near Disney World

 In Articles, Commentary

The Orlando region is the most visited region in the world, and that’s mostly because of the mouse named Mickey. Over the last few years, Orlando has attracted 70+ million visitors each year. In addition, Orlando has attracted more than 76,000 new residents each year too. Many people come to work at Walt Disney World or adjacent jobs.

You may have just recently moved to the area and now you’re looking a new church. Or maybe you’ll be visiting the Disney parks sometime soon and you’re looking for a place to worship while you’re in town. Either way, this list should be helpful.

Calvary Chapel Lake Buena Vista

Calvary Chapel churches across the country have a distinct flavor, conservative traditional Christian ideology meshed with super relaxed casual vibes. If you’re familiar with and love Calvary Chapel, then you’ll love Calvary Chapel Lake Buena Vista. They meet at a school in Lake Buena Vista, minutes from Disney property. Learn more.

Celebration Community Church

Celebration Community Church (CCC) is a Converge Baptist church with Reformed doctrine, emphasis on Christian hedonism, and a robust small group ministry. CCC is located south of the Disney area. The focus at CCC is to teach believers that we are objects of God’s love through Jesus Christ. The church leaders align with many of the ideas and doctrines of Desiring God and 9Marks. The music at CCC is a combination of traditional hymns and contemporary worship. Learn more.

Confessors of Christ Church

Confessors of Christ Church (C3) affirms is a classic Particular Baptist doctrine. C3 is located in the Four Corners region, southwest of the Disney area. The music at C3 is mostly classic hymns with some contemporary worship mixed in. Learn more.

Horizon City Church

Horizon City Church (that’s us) is a new church in our area. We’ve had a bunch of people visit us while on vacation at Disney. It’s been super fun! We’re a part of Pillar Network (a Reformed subnetwork within the Southern Baptist Convention). We place big emphasis on community and friendships. We meet at SunRidge Elementary School in Winter Garden. Much like Celebration Community Church (mentioned above), we’ve been greatly influenced by Desiring God and 9Marks. We sing mostly contemporary worship songs with traditional hymns mixed in, but we’ve got a simple unplugged style. Plan your visit.

Illuminate Church

Illuminate Church is a mainstream charismatic-leaning church with high-energy, high-production, contemporary worship services. They teach a lot about having “abundant life” in Christ and also heavily emphasis Christian community through various small groups. They seek to preach mostly inspirational and practical topical sermons. Learn more.

Mosaic Church at WDW

This church is actually a campus of a much larger church (Mosaic Church in Winter Garden, FL), but Mosaic’s WDW campus meets very close to Disney property (minutes from Disney Springs) and all the ministry for the campus is specifically focused on reaching employees and interns of Walt Disney World. Mosaic Church’s elders lean toward Calvinistic theology and practice expository preaching, but their worship services feel quite contemporary. The services at the main campus in Winter Garden tend to be more dynamic and higher production, but the Disney campus has a more unplugged feel. Learn More.

SO Church

SO Church is focused on bringing hope, joy, and fulfillment into the lives of the people of south Orange County. Their primary focus is on reaching and serving the Doctor Phillips region and the Williamsburg area of Lake Buena Vista, which is packed with Disney employees and tourists. They’re part of Send Network and hold to mainstream Baptist evangelical theology. They preach expository sermons but their sermons and services are crafted to be casual, relaxed, and highly relevant. Learn more.

Village Point Church

Village Point Church is part of the Send Network. They hold to good mainstream evangelical theology. Village Point places significant emphasis on being a church for the community and being a place where new believers can really get connected and begin to learn to walk with Jesus. They mostly sing contemporary worship music, but occasionally may mix-in some modern hymns. Village Point might be the only non-Reformed church in our area that is committed to (mostly) expository preaching. They meet at Hamlin Middle School. Learn more.
